February 2002: Sharon found a lump in her breast.

March 2002: Sharon went to Dr Greenhall’s Breast Clinic at the JR Hospital in Oxford.  At first they thought it was a lymph gland, but a biopsy showed it to be breast cancer.

April 16^th 2002: First operation to remove lump at the Jane Ashley Unit at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.  Lump removed plus all lymph nodes under her arm on that side removed.

April 2002: Two further lumps found in her breast.

May 28^th 2002: Second operation to remove lumps, again at the Jane Ashley Unit.

June 2002: Sharon knew she would need radiotherapy and chemotherapy. She was also to start taking tamoxifen, an anti-cancer drug.

July 11^th: Chemotherapy. Then on Aug.7^th, 29^th.

August 2002: Sharon was losing her hair so she asked M to shave her head. She started wearing scarves to cover her head. Chemo also made her sick, so she sometimes needed anti-sickness injections.

August 15^th: Planning for radiotherapy.

August 30^th: Sharon had a fund raising party for the Jane Ashley Unit. She raised over £500!

October 4^th 2002: Sharon and M went to Jenny and Tony’s.

October 2002: Chemotherapy continued on Oct. 11^th, 31^st

October 18^th: Sharon presented a cheque to the Jane Ashley Unit.

End of November 2002: Radiotherapy due to start. Postponed till beginning of December. Then on Dec. 6^th, 9^th – 13^th, Dec. 16^th – 20^th, Dec 30^th.

December 8^th 2002: Sharon, Sue and I went to Clothes Show. Awful journey on a crowded Virgin train on the way back. Sharon was not feeling well.

January 2003: Radiotherapy continued on 2^nd, 3^rd, 6^th – 10^th, 13^th – 17^th, 20^th, 23^rd.

February 13^th: Sharon and M went on holiday to Herne Bay.

February 27^th 2003: Sharon and Sue and friends went to the Apollo Theatre: Sound of Music night.  I had to leave early with a bad head and Sharon walked me back to my car.

March 14^th2003: Sharon and M had a holiday to Butlins at Bognor.

April 10^th2003: Check up at Churchill Hospital.

April 23^rd 2003: Sharon’s work moved to Tilehurst.

May 1^st: Sharon had an accident in her car on the way home from work. She suffered some whiplash effects and started suffering from aches and pains.

June 26^th 2003: Check up at Churchill Hospital. Given the “All clear”!!

August 1^st – 4^th: Sharon and M went to Bere Ferrers to stay with Jenny and Tony.

August 15^th 2003: Sharon’s party. Celebrating the good news. Sharon’s hair was starting to grow back.

September 2003: Sharon went to the doctor with back trouble.

September 12^th 2003: Bone scan.

September 17^th 2003: Acupuncture.

September 18^th 2003: Doctor’s appointment at the Churchill. Sharon was given bad news: the cancer had spread to her bones. Luckily Sue had come with her to the hospital. It was a terrible shock so soon after the “all clear” in the summer.

September 29^th, 30^th, October 1^st: Radiotherapy.

October 3^rd 2003: Sharon and M went on holiday to Minehead, staying with Dave and Esther and their family.

November 24^th: Radiotherapy.

November 28^th: Chemotherapy.

December 3^rd: Sharon was in a lot of pain, so she went to Sobell House Hospice in Oxford for pain relief.  She stayed there until 12^th December. They looked after her so well! They put her on a new regime of drugs to deal with the pain.

December 19^th: Chemotherapy.

December 23^rd– 28^th: Sharon and M went to Dave and Esther’s for Christmas.

January 8^th and 29th 2004: Chemotherapy.

January 16^th 2004: CT scan.

February 3^rd 2004: Sharon and M went on holiday.

March, April, May, June 2004: Friday trips out with Mum.

May 10^th 2004: Sharon and M went to Weymouth for the week.

May 18^th: Sharon had to go into hospital, first in the John Waryn ward at the Churchill, then on to the Blenheim ward.

May 2004: Transferred to JR Hospital, Level 6.  Long Bank holiday weekend in JR. Uncle Leslie came to visit from Preston.

June 8^th 2004: Sharon was sent home from hospital. Hospital bed etc. set up for her in the sitting room at home. A Macmillan nurse started coming in to visit her. A District nurse also began visiting. Nurses came in to help her get dressed and to have breakfast in the mornings.

June 12^th to 15^th 2004: Sue and Chris came to visit from Somerset.

June 25^th 2004: Sharon died.
